Meet Glean’s 2021 Summer Intern- Chloe Schleuter

Greetings Glean for Good Supporters!

My name is Chloe Schleuter and I live in Garretson with my parents, Holly and Jay, and my younger brother Cole. My older brother Chayce currently lives in Estelline, SD pursuing a career in welding. I will be a Senior at Garretson High School beginning this fall. I have grown a strong passion for agriculture and animals from my experiences through family members’ farms and through FFA. My hobbies consist of fishing, hunting, hiking, going to rodeos, and spending time with family and friends.

After high school I currently plan to attend Lake Area Technical College in Watertown, SD pursuing a degree in Agricultural Business with a dream to farm or ranch somewhere in the rolling hills of Montana one day.

I learned about Glean for Good and its mission through my agriculture teacher and FFA advisor which led me to this Glean internship. My Ag teacher thought I would be a great fit for this position when she approached me about it due to my passion for agriculture, livestock, and continuing to learn more about this non-profit organization and working with Dr. Elizabeth Jensen.

Through the first month of this internship, I have gained a stronger knowledge through researching and studying more about rotational grazing practices, working with beeswax, gaining a stronger knowledge about soil and its contributions to all living things, and just how to be more sustainable altogether.  I am looking forward to continue learning and helping Glean for Good achieve their mission in living a more sustainable lifestyle, while providing for others. I am excited to see what the rest of the summer has in store for me here at Glean for Good and continue to meet many new individuals throughout the agriculture industry.
